Education
Introduction: Paul has worked across the world as a teacher, examiner and adjudicator; and has written courses and academic modules for conservatoires and summer schools. He has taught Oboe, Piano, Theory, Aural, Composition and academic classes, in individual lessons and group lectures / masterclasses at summer courses, conservatoires and schools in the UK, mainland Europe, Turkey, USA, India, Russia and China. Alongside his teaching of musicians to doctoral level, he has extensive experience of working with young students.
Private Tuition: Paul offers 1:1 lessons in all of the above subjects at students’ homes. He also offers residential packages of tuition at his home in Nice to assist students preparing for examinations, entrance auditions and competitions. Teaching Style: In his teaching, Paul focuses on the balance between musical imagination, technique and communication. He explores composers’ ideas and the interconnectivity between music, other art forms, architecture, culture, science and philosophy. His aim is to nurture informed musical ideas so that students may develop their own musical voice, to explore, and to communicate, their love of music.
